Inspiration

I was very inspired by this photo. I thought about copying the design for a bigger bag, But then I thought it would be perfect to adorn a t-shirt or jeans. So I copied the design and added some stitching of my own to a girl's shirt (I bought many of these at walmart.) I loved the way it turned out. I added some french knots to simulate flowers and stitched some grass. I used fusible stabilizer on the wrong side of the shirt so the fabric won't stretch when I did the stitching with the sewing machine. Here are some photos of how nice a simple and inexpensive shirt can look with some felt and embroidery thread.

this is absolutely adorable. Did you use regular craft store acrylic felt? Do you know how it holds up in the wash?

Thanks for your nice comments Sónia and Lori.
Sónia: I am sure you can use this design for a linen bag , actually the original photo seems like the design has been used for on a linen bag. The shirt I used for the application is stretch knit, so I don't see why would not work on a different fabric.
Lori: Yes I used regular craft store acrylic felt since I had many scraps laying around and besides the shirt was so inexpensive that I did not see any reason to use my good wool felt. I would use good felt if I was using a good quality shirt. This was actually kind of an experiment since I have several of this shirts around and I wanted to make them look a little bit nice. I don't know how is going to hold on the wash but what I would do is to wash it as normal and let it air dry (no dryer machine. I hope this helps and thanks for visiting!
